2005 Man of the Year - Thomas Stefanelli
The man of the year doesn’t live in the White House or work at the United Nations. My pick for Man of the Year delivers pizza in South Florida. Read the following news item from AP (6-9-2005).
Thomas Stefanelli says he’s dedicated to his job at Hungry Howie’s Pizza in Tampa, Florida. So he kept working after a struggle with a robber Saturday night left him bleeding from a bullet wound in his left thigh.
It wasn’t a bad wound. In fact, Stefanelli says he didn’t even notice it at first. He says it “bled a little, not much.”
Anyway, his cell phone wasn’t working, so he drove to his next delivery address, dropped off the pizza and called his boss to ask him to call the police. Then he went on to make three more deliveries.
Pizza driver is shot and continues to make 4 delivers before seeking medical assistance. As a former pizza delivery guy that worked South Florida, this guy is my hero. When you look around your company, ask yourself how many of your co-workers would take a bullet and continue to serve customers. If I were a CEO of some company, this guy would be hired in at least at a Director level.
