Time Killer of the Year Award

It seems each year I find something to fill the time between working and sleeping. Only after enough time is invested in that activity can I assess if it was a time killer or if it actually benefited me.

The winner for 2005 is the Stock Market. This year I spent countless hours reading financial books and watching CNBC. I traded almost daily for most of the second half of the year. Even though I have an impressive return as of this writing (+17%), that equates to just a $4000 gain. With the exception of early October, it was fun. Nothing beats the feeling of being right on a trade. In 2006, I’m shifting from a trend trader to an investor, which should free up quite a bit of time for the 2006 Time Killer of the Year.
