Low Pressure on XM Radio
XM Radio did something very stupid. XM80 The Move has a killer drum and bass show that used to run weekdays around lunch time. The show is called Pressure and hosted by Orbit. For those unfamiliar with drum and bass, it is also known as jungle. It is a fast paced form of electronica that mixes jazz and reggae into very fast beats. I started listening to jungle in 1996. Then I lost touch with this genre until last year. That’s when I found Pressure on XM 80.
Well all good things must end. XM 80 decided having a lunch time drum and bass show was a strange flow. So they decided to run they show weekdays from 3AM - 5AM EST. Who listens to the radio at 3 AM on a weekday night? Truck drivers on meth? I sent XM an email telling them to consider running a daytime rebroadcast sometime on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. God forbid we should wake somebody up from that mid-day house crap they are currently playing.
Of course XM didn’t bother to update their web site. You’d think that a company with a 5.5 billion dollar market cap could update their web site with accurate scheduling information. The change happened a month ago!
