Friday will be my last day of work. Then starts my mini-retirement. Or as I like to refer to it - My Summer of George (SOG). A few of you have sent me questions, so I thought I’d answer them all at once.

Q: How long will you go without a job?
A: Although I have enough resources to go 3-4 years without touching my 401K, I plan to stay without salaried income until roughly February 2007. The challenge for me won’t be going back to work after a long hiatus, it will not going back to work sooner.

Q: Aren’t you going to blow through your savings?
A: No. I’m a very frugal person. I’ve go no intention of bleeding money. I have no debt and my car is paid off. During my SOG I plan to sharpen my technical skill set even more, so when I return to the workforce I’ll command an even higher billable rate.

Q: How are you going to spend your time?
A: Stay tuned. That’s what this site is all about. I’ll keep you updated on my SOG adventures here on this web site along with new photo galleries.
