Cowles Mountain South Approach
One of the most popular hikes in San Diego is Cowles Mountain. This is a hike for people that don’t like to hike. It’s boring. It’s crowded. By San Diego standards, the views are not that impressive. I believe it’s popular because of it’s central location, the wide paths, and parking lot.

Cowles is a good beginner hike for people that want to make the transition from flat trails to more challenging hikes. It’s also a good hike for people with dogs. As a non-beginner without a dog, you probably won’t see me hiking the South approach to this mountain anytime soon.
