Lawson Peak Hike
Yesterday I did a great hike in the blazing heat of Jamul, California which is just a few miles outside of San Diego. It starts with a steep 2 mile wide trail, which isn’t anything special. Then you surface onto a set of trails which lead to a boulder-climbing ascent of Lawson Peak. You will need both leg and upper body strength to make it to the top, as their are points when you will need to pull yourself over boulders.
This is hike M-9 Trip 2 in Afoot & Afield in San Diego.

Man what a day to do Lawson! I love Lawson peak… for more challenge try approaching from the southeast side of the boulder jumble… wear long pants and bring some pruners!
This time of year I stay out of the back country due to the heat.. but Lawson is a great hike.
