Next Stop: Mexico

In two weeks I’ll be heading down to Mexico for a 50 mile bike ride. The course connects Rosarito with Ensenada. This is just south of the cosmopolitan metropolis of Tijuana. This is a fun ride, so I’m not coming out of retirement as an endurance athlete. Actually I’ll be doing the ride on a mountain bike. How’s that for fun?

Photo above is me at the 1995 St. Anthony Triathlon in St. Petersburg, Florida. This was before I discovered weight training.

Although I’ve been hiking and lifting weights regularly, I’ve only biked a couple of times this year. Back when I lived in Rancho San Pasqual, I used to bike on the hills of my gated community regularly. That was in January. In other words, I’ve got 12 days to get in shape for this event.
