Snowshoeing in San Diego
Last night I attended the snowshoeing clinic at REI. For those that haven’t been to an REI clinic, they spent an hour talking about the topic and all the wonderful gear you can buy at their store. Since the clinics are free, this is a fair trade.
For those outside of San Diego that are scratching their head right now.
San Diego is coastal Southern California. What is this snow talk?
San Diego County not only has beaches, but also hosts a few mountain ranges just to the east. And if you keep going you’ll get desert. The photo below was taken near the coast in March 2006.

What I learned from the clinic:
- San Diego County has no snow yet this season.
- Frugal people (me) have the option to rent snow shoes at REI.
- The best spots to snow shoe are the Laguna and Cuyamaca Mountains.
