Bike Stolen

Looks like I won’t be returning to Mexico for a 50-miler anytime soon. Someone came into our building, cut the lock and made off with my bike. The worst part is I just spent a few hundred dollars on upgrades.

Photo Gallery Updates on SmugMug

My photo gallery provider SmugMug just did a massive upgrade. They’ve designed the site to load photos much faster using client-side javascript calls. Without being too technical, they are only redrawing the portion of the screen you want updated, not the entire page. For media rich sites this equates to rocking fast page draws.
I encourage [...]

Does My Last Employer Miss Me?

Since I left my last job on May 5th 2006, I haven’t heard from anyone in the company. However, I have noticed that the stock tanked shortly after I quit. The red dot on the chart below is the day I left.

MAS Saves Energy - A Lot of Energy

Four years ago I wrote this:
Regular readers already know I drive a car that gets 49 MPG. Last month I went all out to lower my gas and electric consumption. To lower the house gas use, I used 2 programmable thermostats to only heat the house during a few key hours in the morning and [...]

Goodbye Rainman

On Monday we decided to give our cat Rainman back to his original owner. We adopted Rainman in 2001 when he was 9 nine years old. His first nine years were spent as an outdoor cat in Jamul, CA.
For three weeks we dealt with health problems, vet trips and eventually behavior problems. The health problems [...]

INeedCoffee was Hacked

Someone tinkered with one of the tables. The damage was very limited and I was able to restore everything and tighten up security in the process. For a more technical analysis head over to Digital Colony.

Skiing at Mammoth 2004

The photo gallery from my 2004 skiing trip to Mammoth Lake has been remastered. During this trip to Mammoth we went snowshoeing, cross country skiing, regular skiing and snowboarding. All were first time events for me. I enjoyed regular skiing and snowshoeing the best. Snowboarding was a disaster.

Book List 2006 Part 2

I just realized I didn’t post (brag) about all the books I read since August 2nd. While in South America I was on a reading tear. It seems I like to wake up a good hour or two before most twenty-year olds. And I’ve got the skill to read a book on a bouncy [...]
