My coffee site INeedCoffee was started in April 1999. For the first few years it was a fun hobby. Then it gradually became more and more of a chore. I was burnt out. Every month I was sick and tired of putting out a new issue. As hard as starting a web site may seem, shutting down a popular one is even tougher. INeedCoffee needed a change. It either had to grow or fold. So last month I announced that I was going to run advertising on INeedCoffee.

Even though going commercial upset one of my favorite contributors, many of them are excited. A few of them are now making more than $1 a day already. The best part is the site has attracted both new writers and brought old writers back on board.

Everyday for the last few weeks I’ve gotten up early and started working on the site. The early excitement is back. For the last few years, the site owned me. Now I’m having fun with INeedCoffee for the first time in years.
