A while back I told everyone that my fast food name is Sam. Too many fast food clerks can not spell Michael, so I decided live my fast food life using an assumed name. I selected Sam. This is what I wrote in October 2006:
My name is SAM. It’s my initials backwards. Nobody has misspelled it. Nobody has mispronounced it.
This weekend the unthinkable happened. Somebody misspelled Sam. I knew nobody would believe me, so I scanned the receipt below. My dilemma now is, do I need to pick an easier name, like Ed or Al?
UPDATE: A week later, I went back to the same Baja Fresh and got the same cashier. This time I spoke the name SAM very slowly, focusing on the “AM” sound. Success. Hooked on phonics worked for me (at Baja Fresh)!
