Bar Camp Seattle 1
Last November I read a interesting post on ArtLung.com about something called Bar Camp LA. It is a free event where a bunch of tech people give demonstrations. When I heard it was coming to Seattle this weekend, I decided to go. There were four different rooms going with a new presentation every 30 minutes.
At Bar Camp Seattle I learned a little bit about a lot of different things. However, I learned a lot about SEO (search engine optimization) from a guy on the inside. After his presentation, me and a few others chatted him up and got another 30 minutes of very good information. This information will be worth its weight in gold since I’m now working on the next version of INeedCoffee.
The one major annoyance of the event was the jackhammers. All day long there was construction either behind or underneath the building which required non-stop jackhammering. I almost went home after the first hour. I’m glad I stuck with it.
And I got a free water bottle. Trust me it was the best thing in this box.

I’m glad you had a good time! I was wondering what you’d think of a BarCamp given how frivolous they can seem, and how pie-eyed the stated intentions are. Did you hit day 2?

Yes I did. It was shorter and far less turnout, but they were wise to extend discussions from 30 to 45 minutes.
The first demo was on localization of mobile technologies and I learned a lot. The final two were more filler.
I will return next year. Thanks.
