Lamont’s Groovy Mix
I love music from the 1970s. This time I decided to make a laid back soulful groove mix. I imagined if Lamont from Sanford and Son pulled out his record collection and started playing a few tunes. Here is Lamont’s Groovy Mix.
- The Brothers Johnson - Strawberry Letter 23
- Tower of Power - So Very Hard To Go
- George McRae - Rock Your Baby
- William DeVaughn - Be Thankful For What you Got
- Earth, Wind and Fire - That’s the Way of the World
- Gladys Knight and The Pips - Neither One of Us
- Al Green - Sha La La (Make Me Happy)
- The Spinners - I’ll Be Around
- The Stylistics - You Are Everything
- The Blackbyrds - Walking in Rhythm
- Bloodstone - Natural High

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. This is the best genre of music ever created by humankind.

Although where the FRACK are the Elvis songs?!? He did some of his best work in the ’70s, some of it was indeed soulful (”Long Black Limousine” anyone?). Hellll-oooo?!?

Elvis is too good to be buried inside some mix.

Yes, that is the correct answer. Good man.

Another good one is “I Got A Feeling In My Body” … I could do a greatest hits of groovy mixes for Elvis alone, so I’ll stop now …
