7 Habits of Highly Effective Nutritional Programs

The other day I was reviewing John Berardi’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Nutritional Programs. For the most part I follow the 7 habits, but not always to degree I should. Below are the 7 habits and my personal report card.
1. Eat every 2-3 hours, no matter what. You should eat between 5-8 meals per [...]

The Presidential Motorcade

On June 22-23, 2000, I got to drive in a Presidential Motorcade. This is the original story written on June 24, 2000. The photo gallery was updated in September 2006.
The phone rang in our apartment one Sunday afternoon. Lura answered. I heard her answer questions in a very deliberate manner for a few [...]

Rattler!

Today I headed out to Mission Trails to begin training for my 50 Mile bike ride. I picked this park because it has a nice 2 mile stretch of road away from cars. On my last mile, I spotted another danger. A rattlesnake was laid out waiting for me. I biked around him, parked my [...]

Next Stop: Mexico

In two weeks I’ll be heading down to Mexico for a 50 mile bike ride. The course connects Rosarito with Ensenada. This is just south of the cosmopolitan metropolis of Tijuana. This is a fun ride, so I’m not coming out of retirement as an endurance athlete. Actually I’ll be doing the [...]

Glad My House Sold Already

About 45 days ago I did a check on home prices in my old community of Rancho San Pasqual. At that time there were 11 homes for sale. Today there are 12 homes for sale.
2 Homes went onto the market
1 Home either sold or was pulled
5 Homes lowered their prices ($18K, $10K, $25K, [...]

New Zealand - Day 9 - Black Water Rafting

New Zealand seems to be the motherland of extreme sports. There were many opportunities to skydive or bungee. We passed on those, but did decide to try Black Water Rafting. This is going through underground caves on an intertube and freezing cold water with only a miner’s helmet for light. At two points we had [...]

New Zealand - Day 8 - Taupo / Huka Falls

Day 7 we got rain, so we hiked the Huka Falls on Day 8. Yes another waterfall. Don’t go chasing waterfalls …
From there we hit the road and drove to our only Bed and Breakfast - the Kauri Lodge. Having never been to a B&B, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was [...]

New Zealand - Day 6 - Hobbiton

America has Graceland, the North Island of New Zealand has Hobbiton. It was the filming location for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Yes we took the tour of the Hobbit village. This may be the most geeky thing I’ve ever done, even geekier than the time I stood in [...]
