The Runner 1989-1995

Back in 2002, I assembled all the photos and stats from my running days.
Living out in the country I would often run around our 3 mile block. Sometimes I’d run it 2 or 3 times in a single day. However, I wasn’t part of a high school cross country or track team, because I was [...]

The MAS o Menos Bike Race

I was testing to see if Google had starting indexing my new WordPress blog and I stumbled onto the Desert Sports web site, which talks about the MAS o Menos 100 bike race. It is a 100 K race on mountain bikes near the Big Bend National Park in Texas.
This race is calling to [...]

Bike Stolen

Looks like I won’t be returning to Mexico for a 50-miler anytime soon. Someone came into our building, cut the lock and made off with my bike. The worst part is I just spent a few hundred dollars on upgrades.

Rattler!

Today I headed out to Mission Trails to begin training for my 50 Mile bike ride. I picked this park because it has a nice 2 mile stretch of road away from cars. On my last mile, I spotted another danger. A rattlesnake was laid out waiting for me. I biked around him, parked my [...]

Next Stop: Mexico

In two weeks I’ll be heading down to Mexico for a 50 mile bike ride. The course connects Rosarito with Ensenada. This is just south of the cosmopolitan metropolis of Tijuana. This is a fun ride, so I’m not coming out of retirement as an endurance athlete. Actually I’ll be doing the [...]

Beginner Class Observation

Last night I took a 2 hour course at REI on basic bicycle maintenance. REI describes this course as follows.
The Basic Bicycle Maintenance Class is an informative class to learn how to lube a chain, fix a flat tire in record time, or do minor adjustments to your bicycle.
I learned quite a bit and [...]

Mountain Biking in Spring Canyon

I’ve owned a mountain bike for almost 6 years now. However, up until yesterday it never trailed off the sweet comfort of a paved road. After lunch I went to the Mission Trails Regional Park and did actual mountain biking for almost 2 hours. The Summer of George continues!
