Culture Shock Chile

Last year before I went to South America I did minimal research. Basically I just checked to see what the weather would be like, got some vaccinations and read the travel bulletins provided by the State Department. I wasn’t prepared enough.

Derren Brown Tricks of the Mind

A few months ago I stumbled on some YouTube videos by Derren Brown. He is an amazing performer that combines magic, hypnosis, psychology and memory tricks. If you want to kill a few hours at the office, start watching those videos.
This year he wrote a book called Tricks of the Mind. At this time the [...]

It’s a Boy!

Meet the newest member of the family, Rocky. He came into this world Saturday evening at a weight of 23 pounds. And he has already started chewing. The little guy is able to grind coffee perfectly for espresso shots.

Rainman Survives the San Diego Fires!

Rainman was lost close to the Harris Fire during the fire evacuations on Monday. We just got the good news that when our friend returned to her house, Rainman was there waiting for her.

Rainman was the cat I taught how to hand-shake. (YouTube videos: p1,p2)

Chris Matthews - Inside the Beltway Laws of Power

Recently I saw a video clip of Chris Matthews promoting his recent book. Even though I don’t watch his TV show Hardball, the book sounded interesting.

Rancho San Pasqual - All Clear

SignOnSanDiego just posted an all clear for my old neighborhood of Rancho San Pasqual.
Escondido has reopened two more neighborhoods to evacuated residents: Rancho San Pasqual and Rancho Vista Monte, both on the eastern part of town.
No homes were damaged or destroyed in those areas.

Why I Don’t Like Oranges

In the post Are These the 14 SuperFoods?, I confessed that I don’t like oranges. Some of you already know this story. For the rest of you, enjoy the tale of how I lost my love for oranges during the summer of 1996.
Before I start the story, let me tell you what I dislike about [...]
